MOD 3

Objective of the Game: Have the highest total score at the end of 3 rounds. 

What You Will Need: A standard deck of playing cards (jokers removed). 

Setting Up the Game: Shuffle the deck.

Playing the Game: 

•  Deal 3 cards to each player. Starting with the first player, each player arranges their cards in front of them to form a number where each card is a digit in the number.

III. Face Cards and Aces = 1, 10s = 0.

III. Face Cards may be played on opponents' numbers. 

•  After all players have formed their numbers, starting again with the first player, each may either keep their number or draw 3 cards to add to their number.

III. Drawn cards must be added to the front and/or back of the existing number.

III. Cards may not be inserted between existing digits. 

•  For the final turn of the round, starting with the first player, each may either keep their current number or draw 3 more cards. 
•  After all players complete their turn, calculate scores for that round. 

•  The player with the highest score becomes the starting player in the next round. 

• Repeat for 3 rounds total.

Scoring the Game: 

•  A number divisible by 3 scores 1 point per card used to form that number. 
• If divisible by 6, the score is doubled. 
•  If divisible by 9, the score is tripled. 
•  Yes, that means If divisible by both 6 and 9, the score is sextupled!

Winning the Game: 

•  The player with the highest total score after 3 rounds wins. 
• Ties are broken by the player with the highest round 3 number.

The Secret to Mod 3 

•  A number is divisible by 3 if the sum of its digits is divisible by 3. 
•  If the number is divisible by 3 and is even, then it is divisible by 6. 
•  If the sum of the digits is divisible by 9, then the number is divisible by 9.
